Folkestone maintained their position at the top of the Saxon Shore u11 league with a scrappy victory against Elham on Sunday.

Folkestone batted first, and sensible batting by Edward Clapham & George Burton set the pace for steady accumulation throughout the innings against some tight bowling. Top scorer was Noah White who played some excellent off side shots to make 19, while Harry Joblin made 8, and Louis Smith 7, with the side losing 3 wickets in the process, with the Demoubray brothers being the pick of the home bowling attack.

When Elham replied, the weather was hotting up, and it seemed to affect the Folkestone team, as a number of uncharacteristic errors in the filed crept in, and it wasn’t until the 6th over that a wicket fell.

Man of the match Edward Clapham led the way with 3 wickets, supported by Noah White with 2, and Harry Stafford & Henry Bridges with one apiece.

Despite the below par fielding performance, Folkestone restricted Elham to213, running out winners by 73 runs.
