Hythe U11 200 of 20 overs
Folkestone U11 win by 76 runs

Folkestone U11 maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a Jekyll & Hyde (no pun intended) performance at the 3 Hills ground on Friday night after a top of the table clash against Hythe.

Having lost the toss and been asked to bat, the home side made steady progress, with Benjy Niewboudt excelling with 14 not out. Up until that point, Folkestone had looked like posting their third successive total of 300+, with the score at 289 at the end of the 14th over, thanks to a good partnership between Louis Smith (13) & Henry Bridges (9), which was marred by losing 2 wickets in the 15TH over, and thus losing 10 runs. After that over, Folkestone lost another 7 wickets as they tried to push too hard to up the pace. For Hythe, H Meadows was the star performer taking 5-8 from his 3 overs, as Folkestone posted what looked to be a below par total of 276.

The bowling and fielding has been Folkestone’s strength this season, and they did not disappoint as they set out to repair the damage done at the end of their innings, as they took wickets in each of the first 5 overs of the Hythe reply, and indeed, took wickets in 12 of the 20 overs. For Hythe, Byron Stevens top scored with 14, while for the home side man of the match Noah White took 3-9 as well as taking 3 catches. The other wicket takers were Olly Jones (2-13), Henry Bridges (1-9), Edward Clapham (1-9), Harry Joblin (2-14) & Harry Stafford (2-13).

Olly Jones also remarkably notched his 3rd direct hit run out of the week, as Hythe closed on 200, leaving Folkestone winners by a 76 run margin, leaving Folkestone at the top of the league.
