Folkestone Sharks Win the U11s SSL League 2015!

The Folkestone U11 Sharks ended another successful campaign at Elham Valley CC on Sunday 26th July with a hard fought victory in the Saxon Shore League decider. Folkestone Sharks utilised 10 players during the season and ended the league campaign unbeaten. Wins against Elham, Deal, Hythe and Nonington secured a second successive league triumph in two years with players ranging from 7yrs old to 10 yrs old.

Sound captaincy by Henry Bridges was supported by solid batting contributions from Jacob Thoroughgood and Kieran Niewoudt which consistently contributed for challenging scores and these solid platforms were built upon by accurate bowling from Louis Caulston, Oliver Jones and Will Brown. Izaak Bernard kept wicket soundly throughout the season and all-rounder Will Norman also constantly performed in all the matches. Jack Allen and Toby Joblin also ably supported the team when called upon!

The Folkestone U11 Dolphins (although limited in the number of games that they could play), utilised the games they did participate in to develop their individual skills and we have a large number of good young players coming the ranks at Folkestone. We are certainly seeing the potential and who knows, we might be seeing the next Jimmy Anderson or Joe Root playing at Folkestone Cricket Club.

We would also like to thank the parents for their support over the last 2-3 months and wish the Folkestone U11 Sharks good luck, as they push for the domestic double on Sunday 2nd August 2015 at Nonington in the Saxon Shore League Cup Final!
