Folkestone CC Golf Day 2015

Thanks to the supreme efforts of Stuart Ingleston and Robert Winstanley our ever popular Annual Golf Day was held recently at Etchinghill GC.

There was a magnificent turnout for this year's event held in memory of recently departed and much missed club stalwart,Peter Sumpter.

Peter was a very keen golfer and the original organiser/ co-ordinator of the FCC golf day,now in it's 6th year.

Former 1st team wicketkeeper/batsman Gary Waddup was our deserved winner this time with an excellent return of 38 stableford points.

He held off a strong challenge from runner up Philip Clapham (36pts).

As in previous years,we again welcomed our great friends The Hampshire Stragglers Golf Society who fielded their usual mix of talented golfers and entertaining jokers.

FCC narrowly won the team award just beating HSGS in a Ryder Cup style format.

After dinner, Christina Sumpter and daughter, Elena presented the inaugural 'Peter Sumpter Memorial Trophy' to David Curran on behalf of the FCC side.

Last Friday,Gary Waddup continued his superb run of form by winning the return event down at Royal Winchester GC with an impressive 39pts.

Folkestone's quartet was completed by the evergreen Albert Ingleston, his son Stuart and redoubtable club sponsor and VP Robbie Winstanley.

They admirably represented Folkestone CC as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations for the world famous Hampshire Stragglers.

We must thank our old friend Andy Heyes their captain for making us so welcome and we look forward to seeing them all again when they return for their 2016 Kent Tour.
