Folkestone CC Golf Day 2024

Please find details of the Golf Day for you and your fellow golfers.  If anything is unclear or you need any further information, then please contact Stuart Ingleston by a return email or his mobile 07771 796779.

Please note you can still sign-up by clicking here!!

The timings are approximate only, but should give a rough idea of how the day will go, although weather, duration of play and the scoring of the cards may all also have an effect on the timings.  Please can you arrange for everyone to be at the course at least 30 minutes prior to their designated tee time (1st tee start).  Please come into the Club House to collect your score cards, where Dave Curran will collect any outstanding payments and sell raffle tickets/mulligans (CASH ONLY on the day).  I will also meet you (before I go out to play) and introduce any playing partners (where applicable).

I would be grateful if you could advise me of your playing handicaps and I can add these to the cards, but these can be added on the day.  These can be based upon the World Handicap System and can be calculated on the day, if required. The maximum allowable handicap is 24 (30 for ladies) and I will rely on everybody’s honesty on their true handicaps!

Etchinghill Golf Club has a driving range and putting green.  Tokens for the range can be purchased direct with the Proshop.  Buggies can also be hired direct with the Proshop, however, if you are intending to have a buggy, then I suggest that these are pre-booked direct with the Golf Club (telephone no. 01303-863863).

There are prizes for the first & runner up places, as well as additional prizes for ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’.  The ‘longest drive’ hole will be Hole 13 and the ‘nearest the pin’ will be Hole 17.  The longest drive must be on the fairway & the nearest the pin must be on the green to count.  There will also be a prize for the best guest and first lady.

I am including this year a fun ‘team’ competition.  In that within your fourball (threeballs in some cases!), the best three total Stableford points will be added together, and the highest total will be the winners.  In the case of a tie, countback on the last three holes will be used and so on, until the winners can be determined.  So, it will be important to encourage your playing partners!

Please can you ensure the following:

  • Slow play is to be avoided.
  • Course etiquette is maintained throughout the round.
  • Players ‘pick up’ once they cannot score on a hole.
  •  Cards are marked with the gross scores and Stableford points added up. If you are unsure on Stableford scoring, then please hand this to me at the end of the round and I will arrange for calculating the scores. It would be helpful, if other playing members in your group could assist, to avoid any delays on the completion of the round.
  • Please ensure that all cards are handed in promptly at the end of your round!
  • It will also be Winter Rules.

As per previous years, this is a fund raising for the club. There will be the usual chance to purchase up to two ‘mulligans’ at a cost of £5.00. Only one mulligan can be used per hole off the tee, and they can be used on both the ‘longest drive’ and ‘nearest the pin’ holes, but again only one per hole!
There will be the usual fund-raising events, including a raffle with some excellent prizes.
The evening two course meal with coffee is informal, so there is no need for jackets, ties or formal evening wear at this function.
We are therefore looking forward to an excellent afternoon’s golf and an enjoyable evening. Please remember that this is a fun event and is a great way of meeting up with old and new friends alike. Therefore, we only need to hope for the weather to be favourable on the day! I would be most grateful if you could all avoid slow play to ensure that we have sufficient day light for the later starters.
It therefore leaves me to thank you for your support once again and I look forward to welcoming you all on the day. Any questions, then please do not hesitate to email or telephone me accordingly.
