Alwyn has been a driving force for the development of junior cricket in the Folkestone and Hythe area for many years, with his work for the Saxon Shore League and its member clubs vital in providing junior cricket across East Kent.
His coordination of Folkestone Cricket Club’s junior section has increases participation numbers by 50% in the last 3 years via the introduction of All Stars and Dynamos to the club, introductory sessions at local schools and the development of the clubs first girls’ section.
He has also been responsible for providing cricket sessions for many of the refugee children homed in the area, working with their foster parents to develop their confidence to participate.
In the last couple of years in particular his determination to increase opportunities and develop FCC’s juniors in both the Ashford and Canterbury leagues has been rewarded with highly successful seasons to the great delight of those children, parents and coaches involved.
Additionally, his dedication to various administrative tasks within the club sees him managing the website, maintaining Clubmark status and updating its Constitution.
In short, cricket in Folkestone and East Kent is all the better for Alwyn’s contribution.
