We are pleased to announce that we are now a Disability Cricket Champion Club (DCCC) – one of only four in Kent!
The DCCC initiative is designed to help clubs create time and space for members of their community with different needs to enjoy the game of cricket.
Malcolm Porter (KCCT Coach Of The Year 2023) will be the lead coach.
Folkestone CC are planning on running FREE Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) cricket taster sessions on Wednesday afternoons from 16:00 – 18:00 at Three Hills Sports Park.
Please email info@folkestonecc.com for more information.
We are grateful for the support and guidance from Brian Gasking, Helen Fagg-Lenihan and Aimee Illidge (Kent Cricket), Edgar Herridge (ECB Senior National Disability Cricket Manger) and the funding provided by the ECB.
Malcolm supported the first Kent Community Cricket Trust’s “Cricket and Tea” event and has gone on to coach most of the KCCT Walking Cricket groups and at various events across South-East Kent. He has also been a champion for those living with dementia and the positive benefits that not only cricket can have as an activity but the social element of ‘Cricket and Tea’ bringing people together to connect. He is a great role model for Walking Cricket and his involvement has been a major part of the success of the growth of Walking Cricket in the last year.
In addition to all this, Malcolm also coaches the U9s and girls only age groups at FCC, runs our ECB All Stars programme, coaches in our local primary & secondary schools, runs sessions for refugees, coaches at Area level and runs a weekly session at The Beacon school which caters for pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN).
